The sun came out to play today and then the stars 'pareil' at night. My body had been craving Vitamin D and upon receiving the rays of solar energy my brain immediately had some super positive vibes with which to contend.
Tomorrow night I leave for Germany with 30 some students and a couple of teachers on a 16 hour bus ride. So this evening I invited Max over for dinner to help me clean out my refrigerator. By that I mean it is much easier to eat up lingering food stuffs when you're not alone. This type of event is actually quite frequent among us. When vacations or free time approach we get together and experience odd 'mélanges' of cuisine.
Post-consumption-of-the-food I took a walk, accompanying Max half-way to his home. On my return I looked up to find a star-studded cloudless sky. Breathing in the crisp air, feeling safe in my surroundings, and knowing that I recognize locals and am recognized by them I realized: it only takes three and a half months to really settle into a new city; knowing store owners, teachers, local families, having great friends in Normandy, Sweden, and making new connections every day. Of course, this is just my opinion and the amount of help, kindness, and generosity I have received has exceeded any expectations of mine.
Guess I just feel lucky.
