My Humble Abode

Alas, this is where I live. It is true, I am staying in a school. In the past schools' Headmaster or Headmistress would live on the premises , thus there is a studio and an apartment connected to the school. I am occupying the studio that is about the same size if not bigger than my old studio in Milwaukee. It's been quite easy to adapt. The only difference is I wake up to the sound of screaming children as my window opens up into the playground.

I've included photos of the 'salon' or living area and the 'cuisine' or kitchen, I assure you that the bathroom, toilet, and hallway are not very exciting.

The city owns the studio and has furnished it so people like me, a.k.a. assistants, have a place to stay. There is a small washing machine, a mini convection oven, refrigerator, and as you can see a sofa, bed, and desk. A kind resident is allowing me to borrow his television and I am using the bike of one of the teachers. Not having to search for an apartment was such a relief. My rent is 'charge compris' which means I pay a fixed amount each month and it includes heat, water, and electricity. Happily, I am not receiving energy bills in the mail ;)

And, one of my favorite parts of French life are the 'pantoufles' or house shoes. Upon entering one's home, the 'pantoufles' go on. I have not been to a household yet where this was not the case. Donc, voila! You get to see mine.
