Un petit 'Orientation'

My life has been going by quite fast here in France. When I first arrived to Morestel I dropped off my baggage at the studio, then immediately ran off to meet the Principal and English teachers at the High School. I began filling out paperwork within the first three hours of my arrival. From that day on, everyone has been more than welcoming. Every Thursday the teachers are sure to ask if I have plans for the weekend. When and if I don't have plans they invite me somewhere, it's quite nice! So, never fear my friends and family, I'm hardly ever alone over here. I am going to start off by telling you about Orientation with the other assistants.

The Academie de Grenoble took us all (100-200 people) to Autrans, a small mountain village just 30 minutes from Grenoble; thirty minutes UP, no not north, but in elevation. The air was as fresh as you would ever imagine and the clouds passed by so low you could touch them. Anyway, I've included a couple of photos to help you visualize:

Basically, the orientation was three-fold. It was a great way to meet the other assistants and to make friends that hopefully live near by, people with whom to travel and explore. We were also introduced to the lesson planning and management of small groups i.e. I finally found out what I would be doing on a daily basis. And finally, they created a perfect opportunity to take us somewhere very cool.

  1. It sounds like your time in France has been wonderful so far! The pictures are amazing...I would love some beautiful scenery and fresh air right about now. I'm glad that you are meeting nice people and having a good time. I can't wait to hear how your teaching is going.
